One Tuesday 16th January the Attingham Society conducted a private visit to the exhibition ‘Holbein at The Tudor Court’ Park at The Queen’s Gallery. This tour with Kate Heard, Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings and curator of the exhibition, showcased one of the most important surviving collections of his work. This ongoing exhibition explores the career of the artist and the lives of those who commissioned portraits from him, bringing us face-to-face with some of the most famous people of 16th-century England. Included are drawings, paintings, miniatures and book illustrations which demonstrate why Holbein’s work was admired as much by contemporaries as it is today.
