CALL FOR PAPERS – European Gilt Bronze: From the Renaissance to the Present Day
Third Annual International Conference on European Sculpture and Decorative Arts

The Centre de Recherches Historiques sur les Maîtres Ébénistes and the Low Countries Sculpture Society are pleased to announce the third edition of their Annual International Conference on European Sculpture and Decorative Arts, dedicated in 2027 to European gilt bronze from the Renaissance to the present day.
The conference will explore the history of gilt bronze across Europe and North America, from furniture ornaments and relief sculpture to figurative sculpture and functional works such as candelabra. It will bring together art historians, conservators, material scientists and other specialists to examine the design, production, use and collecting of gilt bronze through both archival research and material analysis.
An optional programme of excursions in Paris will precede the conference.
Call for Papers
Proposals for 30-minute papers presenting new research or work in progress are invited from scholars and practitioners working in relevant fields.
Deadline for proposals: 5 October 2026 at noon
